Last week I had the great honor of visiting another one of our Presbytery’s Spring 2025 Church Mission w/ Community Agency Grant recipients. Restore Ministries Inc. is an at-risk youth organization dedicated to helping children at greater risk of falling behind in school. They partner with various groups and organizations, including Phillips66, Incredible Days, Mad Science, Institute of Music for Children, and Elizabethport Presbyterian Center to provide students with weekly hands-on tutoring and discussions on social justice issues.

Restore Ministries serves three age groups: elementary, middle, and high school. They provide different programs and activities for each age group to provide academic support and make learning fun. Some of their programs include college coaching preparation, assistance in achieving school project deadlines, and study help.

Restore meets with students three times a week in a hybrid modality. Monday in person from 3:00 to 6:00 pm, Tuesday virtually from 3:30 to 6:30 pm, and Thursday in person from 3:00 to 6:00 pm. Restore offers an After-School and a summer enrichment program with artistic, educational, and recreational activities. Most of the counselors that I met were students from the community who attended Restore Ministries in elementary, middle and high school.

The grant funding that Restore Ministries Inc. receives goes towards making sure they have an adequate number of counselors, the purchase of supplies for arts & crafts and covers the costs of trips for the students. If you have an interest in donating financially in support Restore Ministries Inc., please go to https://restorekids.org/donate to see the different ways that you can give.

On behalf of the Presbytery of Northeast New Jersey, I’d like to thank Program Director Ximena Carrasco, her staff and Executive Director and Founder Elder Linwood Bagby for the wonderful work they’ve done and continue to do in Elizabeth and the bordering towns.
