NJPAC Presents: Dance in Our Community Series & Ailey Day

As NJPAC begins preparing for Ailey Day, we’re excited to offer Dance In Our Community, a series of free dance classes taught by leading choreographers and dancers in the state will be held at First Presbyterian & Trinity on Saturday, April 4th at 2pm. Contemporary dance styles include Horton Technique and Jersey Club, and will include choreography from famed companies Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and Carolyn Dorfman Dance. The series will culminate with the annual Ailey Day taking place on April 11 at NJPAC.

RSVP here to join our annual Ailey Day celebration on April 11 @ 8:30AM! This full day of dance immersion at NJPAC features a variety of movement classes taught by Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater alumni, Dance New Jersey faculty and NJPAC teaching artists.
The day will include:
- 9 dance classes of various styles for different ages and movement types. Styles will include modern, Jersey Club, African, and more! Alvin Ailey instructors will teach Revelations repertoire, as well as the Finding Grace curriculum. Number of classes, instructors, style, etc is all TBD but we will have more info soon!
- Story time sessions, which will include a reading of the children’s book Alvin Ailey by Andrea Pinkney
- Q&A session with the Alvin Ailey instructors
- Show & Share – Watch and participate in a dance showcase on the Victoria Theater Stage. Not only will local dance schools and professional groups perform their choreographic pieces, but you will also perform what you’ve learned in class!
- Discounted tickets to Alvin Ailey at NJPAC for purchase at the Box Office. This is exclusive to attendees of Ailey Day and Community Engagement partners, so you don’t want to miss out!
